  • The first ELCA conference was held on June 2006 in the Nile Hilton Hotel followed by a workshop on the International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes presented by IBFAN in the CSPM.

 

  • ELCA actively participated in the discussions and work groups of the 2 day workshop on the National Breastfeeding Program jointly organized by Ministry of Health, and the UNICEF in July 2007 in Port Saiid Egypt.

 

  • ELCA organized the workshop on Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative revival alongside the Pediatric Hepatology, Gastroenterology, and Nutrition Conference in Sharm El Shaikh in October 2007.

 

 
  • Participation in the Ismailia workshop organized by IBFAN celebrating the International Child Rights’ Day November 2008 and was awarded the Ismailia Medal.

 

  • The First international conference for Baby Friendly Neonatal Units was organized by ELCA and Healthy Children Project in collaboration with Benha Children's Hospital. This was the first conference worldwide to address the training of health workers on skills of kangaroo mother care, developmental care and the use of breast feeding in NICUs. The conference was attended by about 150 candidates working in Egyptian NICUs. The tools and cost saving effects of implementing baby friendly initiative in the neonatal units were thoroughly discussed. 

 

  • ELCA has organized and conducted the Code training in Alexandria and advocacy meetings in Cairo in October 2009 in collaboration with IBFAN, International Code Documentation Center ICDC, UNICEF and MOH, and under the auspices of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate (EMS).
